The rich history of Manetti & Roberts dates back to 1843, when it started operations in Florence.
Henry Roberts, a British chemist & herbalist, founded the pharmaceutical business H. Roberts & Co., and began producing pharmaceutical and body care products for the British community in Florence. The company later added shops in Rome and Naples, opened offices in London and Paris, and built a small factory outside of Florence. At the dawn of the twentieth century, H. Roberts & Co. merged the business with one of its chief rivals in Florence, Lorenzo Manetti, forming Manetti & Roberts.
In 1904, Manetti & Roberts debuted its own talcum powder brand, Borotalco, which went on to become the largest selling talcum powder in Italy and a household staple.
