Good looking but definitely on the aggressive side

Posted by Chris V on 20th Dec 2017

Early days, but here are my first thoughts. Good looking razor in a classic open comb style that with a gold finish looks very nice. I read the razor is on the aggressive side. Having used the Muhle r41 I thought the Grande would be less aggressive. I think it's rather similar to Muhle, except it is much lighter and with a shorter handle much more manoeuvrable. Cut myself on the second shave owing to lack of attention but suspect I would not have cut myself with a closed comb or even the Parker 24/6c. The razor provides a good shave but needs lots of slick lather or razor burn results. So, bear in mind it is aggressive.

    Go for it.

I found it to be a good effective razor, with Italian style. The choice of a longer handle, say ninety three millimeters, would be a bonus, otherwise no complaints.

    A close and smooth shave.

Posted by Adam on 25th Sep 2013

I have had three shaves with this razor now. I am still amazed at what a close shave and how smooth it is. Two passes are all I need, whereas, another razor would take three. I have tried a Merkur Slant, Muhle R41 and a Gem Micromatic. Out of these I would choose the Fatip every time. It has the same 'aggressiveness' as the R41 without the danger of nicking yourself if you make a slight wrong move. (You really have to walk on eggshells with the R41.) Also, it is less 'bitey' than the R41 -- smoother. You hardly feel the stubble being cut. I can't wait for tomorrow's shave.
