The Semogue 1305 Pure Bristle Shaving brush is a great looking brush with classic styling. It features a classic sculpted beech wood handle, with the traditional Semogue two-tone finish. The handle carries the unmistakable 'Excelsior' badge and is topped with a 'silver' collar, which holds the renowned Semogue densely filled Pure Boar Bristle (Badger Effect) loft. A beutiful looking brush with excellent performance. Hand Made in Portugal.
The brush bristles should be wet (not soaking) before use. Load the loft with soap or cream and apply to the areas to be shaved, using a strong circular motion. This softens the hairs and also raises them ready for shaving.
We strongly recommend the following aftercare for your brush; When finished always rinse the brush under hot water (especially at the base of the bristles) to remove any remaining soap residue which can result in damage to the bristle and cause early shedding of the loft. The brush should then be stored loft facing down to dry. This can be achieved by using a shaving brush stand and prevents the bristles rotting at the base due to moisture.
Both shaving creams and shaving soaps and all skin types.
Always Store your shaving brush with the loft/bristles poiting down, to allow excess moisture to drain away naturally. This prevents damage caused by damp and helps to extend the life of your brush.

This brush is beautiful and has an excellent quality and finish. It works very well on face or bowl, with its bristles soft and plentiful.

As an addendum to my previous review of the Semogue 1305, quite by chance I discovered that if one doesn't 'rinse off' (i.e. the face) after the first pass (as suggested on You tube), it is possible to get an equally good lather on the next pass without having to re-soap the brush. In the light of that 'revelation' I think it only fair to give the brush its extra star, giving it 5/5. And it keeps its shape pretty well, too.

This is the second Semogue bristle brush I have bought, the other being the 610.
Like the 610, this brush produces a good, rich lather; but, again like the 610, it doesn't seem to retain the lather enough for a second pass without the need to re-soap (from scratch, as it were). Is this a characteristic of bristle brushes, I wonder? I don't have the same 'problem' with badger brushes.
Despite that, it's a very nice brush to use, with a moderate 'stiffness' to it that is neither too much nor too little.
