Product Overview

Semogue 610 Pure Bristle Shaving Brush

Product

The Semogue 610 Pure Bristle Shaving brush is a great looking brush with contemporary European styling. It features a subtle concave hexagonal solid acrylic handle, which features an eye catching transparent two tone design and is available in stunning red or black with crystal clear contrast. The handle carries the unmistakable 'Excelsior' badge and is topped with a 'silver' collar, which holds the renowned Semogue densely filled Pure Boar Bristle loft. A beautiful looking brush with excellent performance. Hand Made in Portugal.

Available in Black or Red.

How to use

The brush bristles should be wet (not soaking) before use. Load the loft with soap or cream and apply to the areas to be shaved, using a strong circular motion. This softens the hairs and also raises them ready for shaving.

We strongly recommend the following aftercare for your brush; When finished always rinse the brush under hot water (especially at the base of the bristles) to remove any remaining soap residue which can result in damage to the bristle and cause early shedding of the loft. The brush should then be stored loft facing down to dry. This can be achieved by using a shaving brush stand and prevents the bristles rotting at the base due to moisture.

Recommended for

Both shaving creams and shaving soaps and all skin types.

Grooming tip

When applying a shaving lather to your skin always use strong circular movements to help soften and raise the hairs and prepare the skin for shaving.

    A nice Portuguese piggy!

I've been using the black version for around 18 months or so, and I thought it was time to buy the red one to go with it. A lovely little brush!

    Semogue 610 boar brush

Posted by paul zickel on 16th Jan 2020

I use a shaving puck with hard soap. This brush has sufficient backbone to lather up easily and then face lather. The tips are soft, improve with use and do not feel scratchy, as can other boar brushes. Magnificent looking handle, which with the red and clear acrylic sets off the white bristles beautifully, so the brush looks very classy. A fabulous brush at an excellent price and super-fast delivery. Thank you Maguire's!

    King of Boars!

Posted by Bishop on 28th Jun 2015

Semogue make , in my opinion the best boar brushes , i own Omega , Culmak, vintage Wilkinson , do yourself a favour and get one , but remember these brushes take time to bed in . Only four stars as the handle seems to attract soap residue more than other brushes i own , but hardly a deal breaker , also i did remove any random non blonde hairs in the knot . price to performance you wont beat a Semogue boar brush.

    Another great brush from Semogue

Posted by The Silverback on 22nd Jun 2015

I already have a 830 and a SOC Silvertip Limited Edition but I heard this brush was great for face lathering. Absolutely gorgeous undyed bristles and a really classy acrylic handle. Typically for a boar brush it does need breaking in but after a few uses it is starting to split and get lovely and soft at the tips. Recommended.

    Decent brush

Posted by Jim Needham on 7th Nov 2014

I have waited several weeks before writing a review of this brush in order to allow it to get 'broken in'. There is a nice firmness to the bristles of the 610 which, with a good quality soap or cream, gives a really nice, rich lather and produces a good shave. The downsides I have found are: firstly, unlike the badger brushes I own, it doesn't retain the lather very well for a second pass without the need to re-soap the brush; secondly, after several uses I am finding it is becoming a bit raggedy and not retaining its shape very well - again, unlike the badger brushes, or even my years-old Wilkinson Sword brush. Having said all that, I quite like using it, and will continue to do so; the pros outweigh the cons, hence 4****. And it doesn't cost the earth.

What a brush this is !

Posted by Brendan on 14th Mar 2014

I thought I would go for a shorter denser bristle brush and what a brush. For me even better than the 620 and the 830 imo, super soft right out of the box so cant imagine what its going to be like when the thing is broken in. If you like shorter less floppy brushes but still soft this is the brush for you. P.S great service and super fast delivery from Maguire's 5 stars.

    Excellent brush!

Posted by Unknown on 15th Jan 2014

This is an excellent brush for face lathering. It takes a few uses to soften up, but once broken in, it is superb. I own two Semogue boar brushes which I use in rotation. Since owning these, I rarely pick up my badger brush.
